A BLUE AND WHITE 'HARVESTING' SLEEVE VASE, CHINA, TRANSITIONAL PERIOD, CIRCA 1644-1661
Note: The present vase is vibrantly painted with an auspicious subject, shouliang tu, the harvest. Typical of Transitional-period sleeve vases, the continuous, narrative scene unrolls around the surface, like a scroll painting.
